ENG:
Like a fixed eye, the doorspy observes passing bodies, watches over the household, and directs its gaze both inward and outward. This small glass lens is brought to life to peer through its wide angle, evoking the object’s voyeuristic nature. It acts as a distributor of roles: observer and visitor. They are separated only by a thin door, creating an unexpectedly intimate yet everyday experience.
In this four-headed exhibition, the viewer crawls into the skin of a doorspy to observe a fictional household. Within this context, walls, textiles, interiors, people, and everyday objects are approached as embodiments and carriers of personification. From diverse perspectives, the private sphere emerges as a recurring motif in film, sculpture, visual art, and installation work.

Deelnemers/participants:
Misha Stevenson explores the tension between comfort and unease through repetition, handwork and the natural qualities of materials. Her sculptures and installations grow from a dialogue between her hands and the materials, transforming into objects that invite individual reflection and emotional response.
Minne Ponsen (Stadstekenaar Rotterdam 2025) explores the tension between the autobiographical and the collective, from which intimate scenes emerge within ambiguous compositions. Through cutting, pasting, and copying, she reassembles found imagery, fragments from her personal archive, and objects. Resulting into auto-fictional pieces in which the everyday is magnified and reimagined.
Finn Emmen finds performativity in interactions between anonymous characters she stages within intimate, isolated, sterile, and quiet environments. These settings extend into objects, windows, doors, and exterior surroundings, forming images that shift between believability and fiction. She brings these scenarios into her video installations, separating and reconstructing the viewpoints of her characters through spatial deconstructions of cinematic narrative.
Nikki Vroom is a Dutch artist based in Rotterdam. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2024 with a degree in Fine Arts, I developed a sculptural practice that often incorporates my own face and body. My work explores the shifting boundary between fact and fiction through sculptures that appear familiar yet resist clear recognition. By creating this tension between the known and the unfamiliar, I invite viewers to question how meaning is constructed. My current research focuses on the line between nudity and eroticism. Using my own body within sculpture, I investigate how context, culture, and the viewer’s gaze shape interpretations of vulnerability, intimacy, objectification, and agency. Rather than offering fixed answers, my work treats sculpture as a space to examine how these meanings continuously shift.
