Nikki Vroom

Nikki Vroom is a Dutch artist based in Rotterdam. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2024 with a degree in Fine Arts, I developed a sculptural practice that often incorporates my own face and body. My work explores the shifting boundary between fact and fiction through sculptures that appear familiar yet resist clear recognition. By creating this tension between the known and the unfamiliar, I invite viewers to question how meaning is constructed. My current research focuses on the line between nudity and eroticism. Using my own body within sculpture, I investigate how context, culture, and the viewer’s gaze shape interpretations of vulnerability, intimacy, objectification, and agency. Rather than offering fixed answers, my work treats sculpture as a space to examine how these meanings continuously shift.
