ZZ is an urban and spatial designer based in Rotterdam, shaped early on by the classical Chinese garden principle of 移步换景, which means shifting scenes with each step: a single step forward reframes the whole view. She is also influenced by Japanese Metabolism and Tati’s playfulness, consistently focusing on functional flexibility and unexpected perceptions in everyday life.
Meanwhile, her curiosity about nature and adventure keeps her walking and photographing. She listens to the wind and water, to people’s stories, to how a space makes someone feel before they can name it. She observes with attention, one step at a time, letting that attention shape new space. Her concise sketches with simple strokes chase a moment of motion, or veer into pure invention — shaped by Picasso’s abstraction, Matisse’s freedom, Woshibai’s narrative, and lines of body gesture.
